I wrote a short story today. It’s been awhile but I enjoyed the process. Tomorrow I’ll take another look at it and see if it’s total crap or if it might be saved. Sometimes I cut blurbs and columns out of the newspaper and occasionally take a look at them for an idea or maybe inspiration. The column I saw today was cut from a paper back in May of this year. It was the story of a man who was held for nine months by an Iraqi militia. The story I took from it was that of a hostage negotiator who was called in to negotiate for the freedom of fourteen of his fellow workers. The only problem is the hostage takers do not want to negotiate and they take him captive too.
If nothing more I at least wrote almost 2000 words today. In my book that’s a good day. Rounding this story out tomorrow would make it a great day. Until tomorrow, woohoo, I wrote 2000 words today.

What a great idea, cutting things out of the newspaper or books. I’m going to adopt it! Thanks! Love the blog.
