I’ve been trying to find a writing schedule that would allow me to mess up now and then and not feel so bad about it. As it turned out it was easier than I thought. Believe it or not, in the last seven days I’ve written 17,749 words. Of course some things have suffered but mainly it has been my blog. In looking at the last seven days I’ve only written one blog entry and I believe I was complaining about my writing schedule in that one.
Are you ready for my secret? My schedule that allows me to write without feeling so bad about the days I don’t write? I found out all I had to do was give myself permission to go a day or two without writing. On the other hand I created a chart to keep track of how many words I wrote each day. Just knowing I would be looking at that blasted chart at the end of the day kept me motivated. The big question, as always, are those 17,749 words good words? It doesn’t matter right now. I’ll worry about that later. I’m totally satisfied with the result. I know that I probably won’t get these results every week but so what. When I started with this writing schedule stuff I was shooting for 7,000 words a week. That number still sounds good to me. With that in mind I’m heading back to do some fiction writing because that’s what I do. I’m a writer.
