NaNoWriMo is Almost Here

Two days to go and NaNoWriMo is here. It will be time for squeezing frantic writing between appointments, early mornings before taking a shower, no wait; I don’t need no stinking shower. See, I’ve just picked up another twenty minutes of writing time. This time of year I’ve been getting tons of political calls, you know the kind where they tell you it will only take three minutes of your time and it ends up being fifteen or twenty minutes. Now, if I don’t answer the phone I could actually pick up another half hour of writing time there. Then there’s sleep. I don’t get that much on a regular basis so if instead of six hours I could try four. That’s another two hours of writing time. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to get coffee delivered to my desk on an hourly basis. Why not set the coffee maker on my desk? Wait, there’s no room. (Sees stack of writing books next to desk lamp) With a swoosh of my arm the books are in the floor and there’s a spot for my Keurig coffee maker. Now I need room for my little k cups, they won’t take up much room. (Sees computer speakers on desk) I don’t need speakers to write. Another swoosh of my arm and the speakers fall behind the desk. Now there’s room for my k cup holder. I’m now ready for the business of NaNoWriMo. What??

My wife just told me the coffee maker can’t be placed on the desk. She also adds if I don’t pick up the speakers and the books I’m going to be using a pencil to write during November. Well, that pencil thing is not going to work. Maybe I’ll have to go get my own coffee. I’ll just write faster.

This is the mindset you need to be successful at NaNoWriMo. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. Anyway, good luck in the coming month.

  6. Great post! Haha we have Keurig, too, but, seeing as I still live with my parents and my mom uses it everyday, I get the feeling she won’t like it if I move it…damnit. If I wasn’t a broke university student I could afford my own place with my own Keurig, and then I could put it wherever the hell I want. :)
